In addition to providing excellent care for our patients, our veterinary surgeons are actively engaged in the advancement of their profession. They share their knowledge and expertise with the broader veterinary community by writing surgical publications and teaching lectures and labs to other doctors.
Soft-Tissue Surgeries
Soft tissue surgeries involve organs, body systems, and tissues other than bones and joints. Our veterinary surgeons are skilled in performing numerous soft tissue surgeries to address various health conditions in pets, including:
- Tumor removal: Both cancerous and benign
- Abdominal surgeries: Foreign body removal, splenectomy (spleen removal), liver lobectomy (partial liver removal), abdominal hernia repair
- Urogenital surgeries: Procedures addressing urinary blockage, bladder stones, subcutaneous ureteral bypass (SUB) surgery and ureteral stenting to address ureteral obstructions

- Ear, nose, and throat surgeries: tonsillectomy
- Thoracic surgeries: Lung lobectomy (removal of a lobe or portion of the lung), diaphragmatic hernia treatment, pericardiectomy
- Wound reconstruction: Surgical repair of complex or extensive wounds, including skin grafting and flap surgeries
Orthopedic Surgeries
Orthopedic surgeries involve bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons. Our surgical team is proficient in a range of orthopedic procedures, including (but not limited to) fracture repairs using advanced fixation techniques, TPLO for cranial cruciate ligament injuries, patellar luxation repair for dislocated kneecap, treatments for hip dysplasia and dislocation, corrective osteotomy for bone deformities, musculotendinous ligament repair or replacement to treat muscle and tendon injuries, and more.
Minimally Invasive Procedures
Some of the surgical procedures our doctors perform use minimally invasive techniques that involve small incisions and specialized instruments. These procedures offer several benefits, including reduced trauma, faster recovery times, and less post-operative discomfort for your pet.
Laparoscopy is performed within the abdomen and includes procedures such as cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), gastropexy (stomach anchoring to prevent bloat), and biopsies. Arthroscopy is employed to address joint disorders, while thoracoscopy aids in the diagnosis and treatment of chest-related conditions. In addition, some bone fracture repairs can be performed utilizing minimally invasive approaches that involve the insertion of pins, screws, or external fixators through small incisions.
Emergency and Elective Surgeries
When it comes to emergency cases, our surgeons work seamlessly with our experienced Emergency and Critical Care team to promptly address life-threatening conditions and injuries that require immediate surgical intervention, significantly improving the chances of successful outcomes for our patients.
Our skilled surgeons also collaborate closely with referring veterinarians to provide elective surgeries for pets under our joint care. Elective surgeries aim to enhance a pet’s overall well-being, quality of life, and prevent future medical issues. We greatly value our relationship with the referring veterinarians, and our surgeons are readily available to consult with them, ensuring the best treatment plan for each case.
