Dr. Tanya Qiu

Dept. of Internal Medicine

Tanya Qiu, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM)

Dr. Tanya Qiu (pronounced “chu”, or simply Q for short) grew up outside of Toronto, Canada. She studied neuroscience in Montreal at the McGill University. Feeling unfulfilled with basic science and research, Dr. Qiu began volunteering for local shelters. It was then she realized her passion is in animal care and veterinary medicine.

After working for a couple of years to gain clinical experience, Dr. Qiu made the move south to Philadelphia, where she attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at UPenn before staying on to pursue a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine.

After residency, Dr. Qiu decided she was done with the humid rainy summers and frigid snowy winters of the East Coast, and moved to sunny LA to join ACCESS Pasadena as an internal medicine specialist. Dr. Qiu enjoys all aspects of IM but has an interest, particularly in hematology, gastroenterology, and interventional radiology.

Outside of work, Dr. Qiu loves to travel, explore nature (especially with her dog, Chocho), and try different restaurants. She also is a big fan of houseplants and is always looking to add to her collection.
