Dr. Steve Cole

Steve Cole, DVM, DACVECC, DACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Steve Cole grew up in the Washington D.C. area and is a graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, followed by a three-year residency in Emergency and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Cole remained at the University of Pennsylvania to serve as a lecturer in Emergency and Critical Care and to complete a three-year residency in Cardiology. He has been board certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care since 2003 and has been certified in Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine since 2007.

Dr. Cole has authored several scientific papers and has contributed to textbooks in Cardiology, Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, and Respiratory Medicine. He has also lectured and presented research at veterinary conferences in both the US and Europe.

Dr. Cole’s special interests include congenital heart disease, interventional cardiology, pacemaker therapy, valvular and myocardial diseases, pericardial disease, cardiac emergencies, and cardiac intensive care.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Cole enjoys spending time with family and friends, Piper (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), and a small herd of cats. Dr. Cole can often be found on his bicycle on the roads and trails of Southern California, and he also enjoys kiteboarding, running, and hiking.
