Dr. Christina De Armond

Dept. of Surgery

Christina De Armond, MVB (Hons), MS, DACVS-SA

Dr. Christina De Armond, a board-certified small animal surgeon and Southern California native, brings a wealth of surgical expertise to ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital – Pasadena.

She earned her veterinary degree from University College Dublin in 2014 and remained in Ireland to complete a year-long internship, gaining invaluable international experience. She then returned to the U.S. for a small animal surgical internship in Arizona, followed by an intensive four-year combined surgical residency and master’s degree at the University of Florida, where she trained alongside leaders in small animal surgery.

Her experience includes authoring peer-reviewed research in veterinary orthopedics, presenting at national and international scientific meetings, and completing a minimally invasive orthopedic fellowship – a post-residency program providing advanced, hands-on training.

Dr. De Armond is also committed to advancing the quality of veterinary care through education and serves as faculty for AO Vet, a global network of surgeons, scientists, and professionals specializing in musculoskeletal surgery.* Through this role, she helps train veterinary surgeons worldwide in the safest, most effective approaches to bone and joint surgery, elevating the level of care available to pets in our community.

While she enjoys all aspects of small animal surgery, Dr. De Armond has a particular passion for orthopedics. Her work includes developing and applying custom 3D-printed surgical guides that enhance precision in complex procedures such as limb deformity corrections and joint replacements – techniques that support safer surgeries, smoother recoveries, and a return to comfortable, active lives for her patients.

Dedicated to both surgical excellence and compassionate care, Dr. De Armond works closely with pet owners and referring veterinarians to ensure every patient receives individualized attention and the highest standard of treatment. Her goal is to pair advanced surgical skill with empathy and clear communication, helping both primary veterinarians and pet owners feel supported at every step.

If your pet is facing a surgical or orthopedic challenge, Dr. De Armond and her team at ACCESS Pasadena are ready to assist and, when referred, collaborate with your primary veterinarian to provide advanced care delivered with a compassionate touch.
