Dr. Kellyann Murphy

Dept. of Critical Care

Kellyann Murphy, DVM, DACVECC

Dr. Kellyann Murphy is a board-certified specialist in Emergency and Critical Care with a deep commitment to helping pets through life-threatening illnesses and injuries, bringing both technical expertise and the calm, steady presence required during some of the most urgent moments in veterinary medicine.

Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Murphy earned her undergraduate degree from Pomona College before spending two years working as a veterinary assistant and technician in a general practice hospital back home. That hands-on experience played a pivotal role in shaping her career path and solidified her passion for patient care.

She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University, followed by a rotating internship and a residency in Emergency and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania.

Clinically, Dr. Murphy has a strong interest in managing complex and high-stakes cases, including sepsis, trauma, and toxicities, and she thrives in the fast-paced, collaborative environment of critical care medicine.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Murphy enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, and attending live music events. She shares her home with two cats, Nymeria and Elia, who keep her equally busy when she’s off duty.
