Dr. Leigh Ann Howard

Dept. of Internal Medicine

Leigh Ann Howard, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM)

Dr. Leigh Ann Howard was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Growing up with cats, fish, turtles, and even a snake, her family supported her dream to become a veterinarian by allowing many pets (even the scaley ones) in the door and bidding on a “Vet for a day “prize for her third grade fundraising auction so she could practice her future career.

She attended the University of South Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science in integrative animal biology with a minor in Spanish, studied abroad in Spain for a summer, and was a stage manager for several theatrical productions.

After finishing her undergraduate studies, she completed her veterinary training at Midwestern University in Arizona. Dr. Howard then completed a rotating internship at Purdue University, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Texas A&M University.

After completing her residency, Dr. Howard moved to California (mainly for the beautiful year-round weather) and joined ACCESS Animal Hospitals as an Internal Medicine specialist.

Dr. Howard likes all aspects of Internal Medicine for its complexity and diversity of cases. She has a passion for advanced diagnostic procedures and excellent patient care.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Howard enjoys nature (especially the ocean), making and listening to music, and spending time with her two cats, Callie and Turner.
